A huge thank you to HHRA board members Wanda Sykes, Sandra Bryant, and Julia Allsbrook for their dedication and hard work! They spent time labeling, sorting, and packing books to be delivered to public, charter, and private schools across Halifax County.
Thanks to a generous grant from Halifax Helps, we were able to purchase these books to educate students about Lafayette’s vital support and relationship with the United States during the Revolutionary War and bring awareness to the bicentennial celebration - a national observance of Lafayette’s “Farewell Tour” of 1824-1825. Each book includes a lesson plan about the Marquis de Lafayette, a letter from HHRA explaining the project, and history provided by the Historic Halifax site.
We’re excited to share these resources with students and keep history alive!
