We’re thrilled to announce that HHRA has been awarded a grant from Halifax Helps to purchase 100 copies of the children’s book "Revolutionary Friends: George Washington and the Marquis de Lafayette." These books will be donated to Halifax County elementary and middle schools, aiming to educate students about the significant roles both Lafayette and France played in America’s fight for independence.

This initiative is especially timely as we celebrate the bicentennial tour of Lafayette’s return to America as the “Guest of the Nation.” The tour will trace the same routes and stops, including Halifax and Enfield!

A special thanks to HHRA Director Wanda Sykes for her leadership in heading up this meaningful project. Your dedication to preserving and sharing history inspires us all! We’re excited to help inspire a new generation to learn about this pivotal moment in American history. Stay tuned for more updates as we work with local schools to share this important story!
